Dear Friends,
I want to welcome you to the website of Travis County Emergency Services District #12/Manor Fire Department. I hope you find it to be informative and useful whether you are new to the area or just browsing.
Manor has been named as one of the fastest growing areas in Central Texas over the past five years we have seen the population for just the City of Manor grow from 1200 residents in 2000 to over 7000 currently bringing our total service district population to around 40,000 folks. The Manor area has seen a large increase in new subdivision residential growth with some of our subdivisions being master planned communities. The Manor Independent School District has also enlarged over the past five years with the addition of three new Elementary schools, a new Middle school and two additions on to the High School. There are currently plans for more Elementary schools a new sports complex and a new Middle school is under construction scheduled to open in the fall of 2008.
With all of this growth, Travis County ESD #12 has undergone major changes in the past five years. With the support of our ESD Commissioners and a strong Strategic Plan we have reshaped our department in order to provide a more efficient service delivery to those in need. In the past five years our department has grown from a primarily all volunteer department with day time paid staffing only to having 24 hour a day paid coverage with three full-time and one part-time Firefighter/EMT on duty. We have also completely replaced our fleet of apparatus to state of the art equipment enabling us to deliver a higher level of service. Our radio system is now the best you can get and gives us the capability of communicating with any agency in the county.
Travis County ESD #12 also has a strong mutual aid commitment with the Austin Fire Department and our surrounding ESD’s so our citizens can rest assured that help will reach them in a matter of a few minutes no matter how busy we are.
